Two major areas are developed in this chapter.
1 timothy 2.
It is the church, through timothy.
1 timothy 2 is the second chapter of the first epistle to timothy in the new testament of the christian bible.the author has been traditionally identified as paul the apostle since as early as ad 180, although most modern scholars consider the letter pseudepigraphical, perhaps written as late as the first half of the second century ad.
3 for this is good and acceptable in the sight of god our saviour;
1 i exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
Direction as to intercessions for all men, since christ is a ransom for all.
1 i urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
Acts 17:30 and the times of this ignorance god winked at;
This is resumptive of, and a further development of the παραγγελία of 1 timothy 1:18.see reff.
3 this is good, and pleases god our savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Πρῶτον πάντων is to be connected with παρακαλῶ:
5 for there is one god and one mediator.
2 for kings, and for all that are in authority;
1 thessalonians 3:12 and the lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
But now commandeth all men every where to repent:
The duties of men and women respectively in respect to public prayer.
The object of παρακαλῶ is not expressed;
Paul here at last begins the subject matter of the letter.
And hence suidas explains it by ειρηνοποιος.
